Beyond the Reach
Order of the Open Arms
The Order of the Open Arms, also known as the ‘Bracers (short for “Embracers”) was one of the main religious factions on Monsantine from colonization until 5 years after colonization. The center of their religious doctrine was the idea that the source of the Emperor’s great power was his enduring love for mankind, and his tolerance of all people who shared that love. They encouraged this principle by seeking, through charity work and educating others, to demonstrate how all people could live and work together in harmony. They grew faster than any of the other factions, and at the time of their destruction they were both the largest and wealthiest faction on the planet.
Their nickname came from members’ propensity to suddenly find themselves filled with burning love for humanity, which they would express by embracing everyone in the immediate vicinity in a fierce hug.
The Order of the Open Arms was destroyed after the Inquisition unearthed proof that they had maintained a trade and cultural exchange with xenos for almost the full extent of their time on Monsantine. Before the Inquisition could organize a response, however, the fledgling faction the Sons of Justice banded together and eliminated the unsuspecting ‘Bracers, burning their temples and taking their territory by force.
